The BME680 is a low-power, 4-in-1 digital sensor that can measure gas, humidity, pressure, and temperature with high linearity and accuracy. It features both SPI and I2C interfaces, allowing it to be easily integrated with various microcontrollers and single-board computers, such as the ESP8266. The sensor can measure humidity with ±3% accuracy, barometric pressure with ±1 hPa absolute accuracy, and temperature with ±1.0°C accuracy. Thanks to its precise pressure measurement, the BME680 can be used to estimate altitude within ±1 meter. The gas sensor works by detecting changes in its internal resistance, which is designed to be sensitive to the concentration of Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) gases.
